Room 405 (pace 1, 5 measures)

Improvisation for prepared cello. Sound Installation. 3min, loop, 2010.

For Room 405 a cello is modified by wrapping a thin rope all along the fingerboard. The cello strings are then repositioned and the cello is played by pacing a room and stroking the strings at pre-set intervals. The piece is a play between the physical structure of the room, the behavioral measures of pacing, and the patterns of stroking the strings. The work was premiered at SoundGate, a project part of PORT 20:10 – Festival of Contemporary Art & Social Technology, curated by Lars Lundehaven Hansen.
